DMUC Agenda Topic Suggestions

ASDWA and EPA would like your help in shaping the agenda for the Fall 2020 Data Management Users Conference (DMUC).

Below you can enter topic ideas for consideration. Provide enough information so the planners can understand how to build a session around your idea. If you are willing to help present a topic (such as sharing a state developed tool) please indicate that as well - we always encourage states and EPA regions to share any tools, guidance, or best practices they've developed. Don't feel limited to traditional presentation topics - we're also interested in training ideas you might have.

As you start to enter an idea below, the system will search through submissions and you will be prompted to vote for an existing topic if it has already been submitted. In addition to submitting new ideas, please review the list of topics that have already been submitted to vote in support and offer comments to refine the idea. The more community-wide input we get on these topics the better the conference will be.

Thank you for your valuable input. If you have any questions please contact Anthony DeRosa (aderosa@asdwa.org).

  1. Lessons Learned by Primacy Agencies from Implementing CMDP

Share experiences from CMDP implementation in different primacy agencies. Describe approaches and tools to prepare for and implement CMDP. These may include best practices for working with laboratories and public water systems, managing CMDP internally with state program staff and IT groups, and tracking progress with laboratory onboarding. Identify incentives for laboratories to adopt CMDP. This may work well as a panel discussion.

  2. Remote Sanitary Surveys

Most states are attempting to figure out how to safely conduct our baseline sanitary surveys during the current SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. EPA has indicated that states may consider conducting them fully remotely using whatever tools they have at their disposal. Rather than reinventing the wheel, if any states have successfully implemented remote surveys that cover all 8 required elements and would be willing to present on how they did so (e.g. what tools were used) and any lessons learned I'm sure every state would appreciate hearing about it.

  3. SDWIS State Training

Several community members have requested some form of SDWIS State Training. Please comment below with ideas for specific sessions - also, include whether if you envision instructor-led or more audience-led engagement. For example, an expert presenter demonstrating on a topic and taking Q&A after vs. an expert panelists who is available to address concerns from the audience.
